Appeals can be made during the plan review process or during actual construction.
An appeals board is conducted each Tuesday morning at the Department of Building and Safety. Appeal forms are available at the information desk. There is a $100 charge for each appeal, which must be filed prior to 3 p.m. on the Monday preceding the board (first come, first assigned). The building official chairs the board, and other technical representatives will be present as required.
Normally, appeals deal with code interpretations, or alternative materials or methods of construction. A formal appeal to the City Council may be made if the applicant disputes the ruling of the appeals board.
