Gender Matters Workshop - March 7 & 8
Due to the increasing number of women in correctional settings, there is a growing recognition of the need for gender-responsive services. Their pathways into the system (substance abuse, violence, and poverty) provide the framework for developing effective services. The workshop will feature noted speaker, Stephanie S. Covington, PhD, LCSW who will focus on the specific programming needs of women in correctional settings.
This two-day training course will cover:
• Differences between male and female offenders
• NIC guiding principles
• Research findings on gender-responsive services
• Trauma and its implications for women’s services
• Moving research into practice
• Specific intervention strategies for women
The event is March 7 and 8. Early bird registration is $175 before Feb. 17. Registration after Feb. 17 is $200.
Continuing Education - 12 CEU/CLE
Participants may earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Continuing Legal Education (CLEs) in the following areas:
