11th Annual Lakes Memorial Day Ceremony

Lakes South Park (located at the intersection of Lake East Dr. and Shoreline Dr)
The American Legion Post 76 and Fleet Reserve Branch 90 will jointly conduct the ceremony. The event will be held in the Lakes South Park overlooking beautiful Lake Sahara. The event is free to the public.

American Red Cross Babysitter Training (ages 11-15)
June 11, 13-14, 4 to 8 p.m. or June 29-30, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Begin with a 1.5-mile run starting at Pavilion Center Pool and winding through Veterans Memorial Park. Race will conclude with a 300-meter swim at Pavilion Center Pool. There is no age limit, but participants must be able to swim 100 meters successfully.
Home Pool Safety Training

This one-hour training is being brought to you by the professional staff of the city of Las Vegas Aquatic Unit. Participants will be able to recognize the importance of water safety training and explain the steps to take at home to remain safe in, on and around water. Sun safety also will be incorporated.

Enjoy an evening of contemporary jazz by Streetology — an exciting blend of funk, rock, and jazz, with meticulous musical execution and staging. Each member of the group has enjoyed success in recording and concert performance venues, backing up some of the finest stars in the pop, rock, and jazz world. Members include Rocky Gordon (alto and soprano saxophone), Jon Jacquemoud (guitar), Jon Matteson (piano and keyboards), Geoff Neuman (acoustic and electric basses) and Randy Fisher (drums and percussion).

Upon successful completion of the camp, participants will earn an American Red Cross Adult CPR certification, and learn essential pool life-saving skills. This fun camp is a great environment for kids that may want to become a lifeguard. Patriotic Parade by Summerlin Council

This time-honored tradition allows friends, family and neighbors to show their colors while gather for a good old-fashioned hometown parade through the streets of Summerlin! The parade travels along flag-lined streets from Hillpointe and Hills Center, then south on Hills Center, concluding on Trailwood Drive. Arrive early to get a prime viewing area along the route. Ward 2 Trunk or Treat Car Show and Halloween Festival
Saturday, Oct. 19, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Please join Councilman Bob Beers for a fun day filled with music provided by DJ Brando, along with Halloween activities for the kids. Enjoy craft projects, a costume contest, games, face painting and jump houses. Admission is free and the event is open to the public. Kids have the opportunity to Trunk or Treat at the awesomely decorated cars in the car show. The vehicles will be decorated for Halloween. Help us pick the spookiest! On the first Tuesday of every month, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department opens its doors to valley substations from 7 to 9 p.m. in order for the community to have an open forum of communication with the police officers who patrol their neighborhoods. Check Out Downtown’s First Fridays
The air is light and the spirit festive in downtown, where, once a month, the pedestrian-friendly streets transform into a huge block party during First Friday. First Friday is a stage for local galleries and Las Vegas' vital downtown cultural scene. It's a place to meet friends new and old, and rejoice in the preservation and innovation of an historical neighborhood.
