Judge Susan Roger
Susan Roger was elected as the Las Vegas Municipal Court judge for Department 2 on June 7, 2011, and was sworn into office on July 6, 2011.
Judge Roger was raised in Oklahoma City and moved to Las Vegas in 1993. Judge Roger graduated from UNLV with degrees in Hotel Administration and German. She then obtained her juris doctorate from the University of Utah College of Law, where she served on the Law Review. While in law school, Judge Roger worked for two years as a law clerk for the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office.
After graduating from law school in 2000, Judge Roger was hired at the Clark County District Attorney’s Office as a law clerk in the Appellate division. She was later promoted to chief deputy district attorney and was assigned to the Special Victims Unit, Domestic Violence Division and the Gun Crimes Unit.
During her career as a district attorney, Judge Roger prosecuted 50 jury trials. While a prosecutor, Judge Roger practiced on multiple occasions before the Eighth Judicial District Court and the Nevada Supreme Court.
Judge Roger presides over a full criminal calendar in Department 2 as well as the Las Vegas Municipal Court’s DUI Specialty Court, an intensive one-year program for offenders with high blood alcohol levels and/or multiple DUI offenses. The program focuses on changing drinking and driving behaviors to save lives.
