City Reaches Out With Three Neighborhood Homeowner Meetings
Input Sought On Four Draft Master Plan Elements

Many homeowners living in the city of Las Vegas want to start home improvement projects but may not know if permits are required, and if so, how to apply for one. The city of Las Vegas is holding three identical neighborhood homeowner meetings in area community centers to help people navigate the process. In addition city staffers will be looking for feedback on four drafts of Las Vegas 2020 Master Plan Elements.

The three departments most involved in the home improvement application process are Planning and Development, Building and Safety and Public Works. Representatives of each department will be at the sessions to provide an overview of the permit application process and to answer specific questions relative to their department’s requirements.

"We did this last summer and we’re looking forward to doing it again," said Tom Perrigo, AICP, deputy director of the Planning and Development Department. "We think getting out into the neighborhoods where homeowners live is very effective."

The meeting times and locations are listed below.

“We want to make it easier for homeowners to get the information they need without having to come to the Development Services Center during regular business hours,” said Earl Russell, deputy director of the Building & Safety Department.

Additionally, four Las Vegas 2020 Master Plan Element drafts will be presented for discussion:
Community Design Element (GPA-26994)
Streets & Highways/Transportation Element (GPA-27003)
School Facilities Element (GPA-27004)
Public Services & Facilities Element (GPA-27006)

The master plan and its elements are a policy guide used by the City Council and city staff for community development and land-use decisions.
