Grand Opening Of Bill Briare Family Park Scheduled For Saturday
Valley Residents Invited For Afternoon Of Fun

Residents are invited to join Ward 1 Councilwoman Lois Tarkanian to celebrate the grand opening of Bill Briare Family Park on Saturday, May 10, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The park is located at the end of Tenaya Way, adjacent to Summerlin Parkway in the northwest part of the city.

The park was named in honor of former Mayor Bill Briare who was remembered as a family-man with charm who led the city of Las Vegas from 1975 to 1987. Mayor Briare passed away in December 2006.

“This will be a great day to honor a great man and celebrate the addition of another family park,” Councilwoman Tarkanian said. “It is always exciting when the city is able to find extra open space in an established neighborhood and to be able to make that space into a park for families to enjoy.”

The event will be filled with fun activities for the entire family including a disc jockey, bounce house, face painters, games for the kids and community vendors. Cotton candy and popcorn will be provided while supplies last.

The 10 acre park includes a perimeter walking path, large areas of open turf and two shaded play areas. Future amenities will include restrooms and basketball courts. Work on this project was managed by the city of Las Vegas Department of Field Operations.

For more information on the grand opening of Bill Briare Family Park, residents can call 229-4615.
