Mayor Goodman, Area Health Providers Launch Mayor’s Quality Healthcare Coalition
Group Formed To Help Regain Public Trust In The Medical Community In Light Of Recent Endoscopy Crisis

Las Vegas Mayor Oscar B. Goodman and members of the medical community met this afternoon to launch the Mayor’s Quality Healthcare Coalition of Nevada. In the wake of the recent Endoscopy crisis, when the public’s trust in the medical community has been extremely low, Mayor Goodman joined with Dr. K. Warren Volker to form this coalition to address quality healthcare in Southern Nevada.

By bringing together hospital CEOs, physician leaders, community and business role models, the coalition is designed to identify areas of medical excellence in the community and promote the positive aspects of health care in Southern Nevada to both patients and doctors considered coming to Las Vegas.

“As mayor of the city of Las Vegas, I am deeply concerned that our medical community as a whole is being portrayed in a negative light,” Mayor Goodman said. “The Southern Nevada community has been left with minimal confidence and a serious lack of trust in all of the wonderful physicians who faithfully care for their patients. By bringing together these great leaders we will be able to share information and communicate to the public and doctors considering coming to Las Vegas that progressive medical care is taking place both locally and across the state of Nevada.”

At today’s meeting, the coalition created a mission statement, identified areas of medical excellence in our community and discussed ways to communicate with the public to restore their trust in the medical system. The coalition plans to meet again next month
