Las Vegas firefighters doused blazes in apartments on opposite sides of the city Saturday morning. No one was injured at either incident.
The first fire occurred in the kitchen of an apartment at the Quail Tree Apartments, 7100 W. Alexander Road (Alexander/U.S. 95) at 12:36 a.m. A grease fire that started on the stove in the apartment spread to the kitchen cabinets causing approximately $20,000 damage. Two people were displaced because of the fire. The fire was accidental. There was no injuries.
The second fire occurred at 10 a.m. at the Oasis Ridge Apartments at 3040 E. Charleston Blvd. (Charleston/Pecos) in an upstairs apartment bedroom. Fire investigators determined that a toddler playing with a lighter in the closet of the bedroom was the cause of the fire. The fire, which caused approximately $10,000 in damage, was confined to the bedroom . One person was cut by broken glass during the incident and treated on scene. The American Red Cross is assisting the occupants of the unit. No other apartments were damaged at either incident.
