The city of Las Vegas has plans to start a landscape conversion improvement project at the Durango Hills Golf Course. Work is scheduled to start on Monday, Aug. 24. The 18-hole course is located at 3501 N. Durango Drive and is operated by the city of Las Vegas.
As a water conservation measure, crews plan to remove turf areas at select locations on the golf course. The turf will be replaced with a low-water use irrigation system, decomposed granite and drought-tolerant landscaping.
Work will take place weekdays during the daytime hours. All of the work is planned to take place on the golf course and the course will remain open during the construction. None of the work will impact nearby roadways.
The improvements are slated for completion in late October.
Funding for this $200,000 project is provided by the city of Las Vegas. Upon completion, the improvements will be eligible for a Southern Nevada Water Authority rebate. This landscape conversion is the first of a two-phase project that will be completed on the Durango Hills Golf Course.
Southwest Lawn Shaping is the contractor. The city of Las Vegas Public Works Department is managing the project.
