General information about the incident:  Neighbors called 9-1-1 to report a fire in the house, and they believed someone might be in the bedroom. Two fire engines arrived on scene at the same time and forced entry into the house through the front door and found very light smoke on the first floor. As they ascended to the second floor, the smoke got thicker. They found a bedroom door closed and determined the fire was in the bedroom. When they opened the door, thick black smoke had filled the room nearly down to the floor. As they fought to put the fire out, they found an adult woman lying on the bed lifeless. Firefighters had the fire out in a few minutes. Paramedics determined the woman was deceased.  Damage was confined to the bedroom. Fire investigators believe the woman lived alone. The cause of the fire and why the woman died is under investigation by Las Vegas Fire Investigators, Metro Police Homicide detectives and the Clark County Coroner’s Office which is standard procedure any time there is a fatal fire. If the incident is ruled a fatal fire, it will be the sixth fire fatality this year in the city of Las Vegas.
