The city of Las Vegas will recognize Native American Heritage Month at the Wednesday, Nov. 18, City Council meeting, which will take place following the 8:30 a.m. Redevelopment Agency meeting in City Hall council chambers, located at 400 Stewart Ave.
Councilman Steven D. Ross will recognize the contributions to the community of Native American tribes.
The city will also recognize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Day, and the efforts of city employees to teach students about this mapping technology.
Councilwoman Lois Tarkanian will recognize the Soka Gakkai Buddhist Community Center for its work with the Ward 1 community. In addition, a choir from the community center will perform in the City Hall Plaza about 8:10 a.m.
Mayor Pro Tem Gary Reese will recognize the efforts of the faculty and students of R. Guild Gray Elementary School for achieving Blue Ribbon School status.
Finally the council will also recognize the November city of Las Vegas Employee of the Month.
