Casino Center Boulevard And Ogden Avenue Intersection Overnight Traffic Lane Restrictions Planned For Tonight And Wednesday, Dec. 1 and 2
Casino Center Is Being Improved To Accommodate Two-Way Travel

The one-block section of Casino Center Boulevard, between Stewart and Ogden avenues, is being improved to accommodate two-way north and southbound travel. The downtown roadway currently operates as a one-way street for southbound travel only.

Traffic lane restrictions will be in effect at the Casino Center and Ogden Avenue intersection tonight and Wednesday, Dec. 1 and 2, during the overnight hours starting at 7 p.m., and continuing through 6 a.m. The intersection will reopen to full access to accommodate commute traffic each morning.

These temporary traffic disruptions are necessary, as part of continuing work on the ACE rapid transit project along Casino Center. City of Las Vegas traffic crews are working with Southern Nevada Paving on this work phase to convert the one-block section of Casino Center to two-way travel.

The city of Las Vegas is partnering with the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) to construct the first ACE rapid transit line, scheduled to debut in the spring of 2010. The project includes improvements at Ogden Avenue proceeding south along Casino Center to Charleston Boulevard. The project also includes improvements to Third Street, south of Charleston continuing to Imperial Avenue, and along sections of Main Street, Las Vegas Boulevard, St. Louis Avenue and Paradise Road to the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Dedicated rapid transit lanes are being built in the center of Casino Center and Third Street. These lanes will allow ACE to provide fast transit services that will seamlessly link downtown Las Vegas to the Las Vegas Strip. ACE rapid transit will also feature level-platform boarding, off-board fare collection and sleek, attractive vehicles.

Funding for the state-of-the-art project is being provided by the Federal Transit Administration, the RTC and the city of Las Vegas.

The RTC is the transit authority, the transportation planning agency and the regional traffic management agency for Southern Nevada. The RTC’s vision is to provide a safe, convenient and effective regional transportation system that enhances mobility and air quality for citizens and  visitors. The RTC encourages residents and visitors to use alternate commute modes to help reduce traffic congestion, clean the air and improve the quality of life in Southern Nevada.
