General information about the incident:   Neighbors called 9-1-1 to report that smoke and flames were coming from a house across the street.  When firefighters arrived, smoke and flames were showing from a small one story house.  They were advised the only occupant was out of the house with a minor burn to the foot.  The man was also treated for slight smoke inhalation.  He was treated on scene.  Firefighters went inside the home and found the fire in a bedroom.  They had the fire extinguished in a few minutes.  The cause of the fire is undetermined.  The occupant, who is staying in the house as it is being renovated, told fire investigators he was asleep and woke to heat on the bed.  He had a lamp rigged to the bed, which used a high intensity light bulb.  He said the bulb was melting and caught the mattress on fire.  He got a cup of water and tried to put the fire out, but it grew larger so he left the house.  He is staying with relatives.  He received assistance from the Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Foundation.
