Oakey Boulevard And Rancho Drive Intersection Weekend Closure Planned
Pavement Removal And Replacement Starts Friday, Dec. 18

The Oakey Boulevard and Rancho Drive intersection will be completely closed to traffic starting at approximately 8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 18, and continuing through 6 a.m., Monday, Dec. 21.

Traffic on Oakey will be detoured at Western Avenue and at Valley View Boulevard. Rancho traffic will be detoured at Sahara Avenue and at Charleston Boulevard. Access will be maintained for area residents.

The temporary closure is necessary for crews to remove and replace the roadway pavement in the intersection. Crews plan to work around-the-clock through the weekend, to complete work in the intersection, as part of the $6.2 million flood control improvement project that is underway on Oakey, between Birch Street and Cahlan Drive.

Work started in February and the entire project should be completed by mid-January. The flood control system being installed in Oakey will help alleviate flooding in the area, when completed.

The Oakey and Rancho intersection should reopen to access by 6 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 21.

Las Vegas Paving is the contractor. The city of Las Vegas Department of Public Works is managing the construction. Funding is provided by the Clark County Regional Flood Control District.
