Sky Pointe Frontage Road Temporary Closure Starts Monday, Dec. 21
Horse Drive Interchange Construction At U.S. Highway 95 Continues

Starting Monday, Dec. 21, and continuing through Monday, Jan. 4, Sky Pointe Drive, between Kyle Canyon Road and Horse Drive, will be completely closed to traffic.

The two-week closure is necessary as work continues on the $44 million Horse Drive Interchange at U.S. Highway 95 improvement project. Crews plan to connect the new Sky Pointe Drive section to the existing Sky Pointe frontage road.

While the closure is in effect, traffic will be detoured at Kyle Canyon Road and at Horse Drive.

The Horse Drive interchange project started in June and will take approximately 18 months to complete. The project includes construction of an overpass and full interchange, frontage roads, ramps, retaining walls and a bridge, along with extensive utility work flood control improvements, traffic signals and lighting.

Construction is underway east and west of U.S. Hwy. 95, north of Grand Teton Drive. Oso Blanca Road remains closed to traffic from Tee Pee Lane to Kyle Canyon Road.

As work progresses, traffic disruptions can be expected on Iron Mountain Road, Brent Lane, Fort Apache Road, Horse Drive and Tee Pee Lane. Some traffic disruptions will also occur on U.S. Hwy. 95.

Sky Pointe should reopen to access on Jan. 4, 2010. The entire project is slated for completion in late 2010. Funding is provided by the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada, the Clark County Regional Flood Control District and the city of Las Vegas.

Capriati Construction is the project contractor. The city of Las Vegas Public Works Department is managing the project.
