General information about the incident:   Business next door called in and reported that smoke and flames was showing from a small store on East Charleston Boulevard. When firefighters arrived on scene, the shop was fully involved and well protected by bars on all windows and doors. The roof was showing signs of weakness, so no firefighters entered the building. Firefighters had the main bulk of the fire knocked down within a few minutes. Local residents described the store as a Latin American type drug and convenience store. They said the store was normally open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily and was open for business today. No one from the store was on scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation. All of the contents were destroyed and there is considerable damage to the building itself. Fire investigators want to talk to the employees and owner of the building as part of their investigation. There were no reported injuries. Charleston Boulevard was closed to traffic for approximately one hour.
