Historic Berkley Square Neighborhood To Be Recognized At City Council Meeting
KCLV Channel 2 To Be Recognized For 10 Years Of Service To The Community

The city of Las Vegas will recognize the Berkley Square Neighborhood for being listed on the National Register of Historic Places at the Wednesday, Jan. 6, City Council meeting, which will take place following the 8:45 a.m. Redevelopment Agency meeting in City Hall council chambers, located at 400 Stewart Ave.

Berkley Square was the first subdivision to be built in Nevada by and for African-American residents of Las Vegas. The Ward 5 neighborhood will be recognized by City Councilman Ricki Y. Barlow.

Ward 4 Councilman Stavros S. Anthony will recognize the community work of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church. The church was the location of two recent funerals for Metro Police officers who were killed in the line of duty.

In addition, the City Council will recognize the 10th anniversary of KCLV Channel 2, the city’s government television station. The station broadcasts City Council and Planning Commission meetings live, and features programs like, “Access City Council,” “Las Vegas Town Hall,” “City Beat,” and “City Scene.”

Channel 2 first launched on Jan. 5, 2000 in partnership with Cox Communications.
