Exceptional Las Vegas Projects Garner Mayor’s Urban Design Awards
Projects Reflect City’s Commitment To Sustainability And Livability

Las Vegas Mayor Oscar B. Goodman awarded four exceptional projects Mayor’s Urban Design Awards (MUDA) at the annual State of the City address held earlier this week. Each project fosters the city’s commitment to sustainability and livability in one of four categories. The winners are:

  • Buildings and Their Environs: The Brett Wesley Contemporary Gallery
  • Public Places: Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs Visitor’s Center
  • Public Art: The Southern Nevada Police Memorial Monument
  • Historic Preservation: Las Vegas Boulevard Neon Sign Restoration Project

To qualify for the annual awards, projects must be located within city limits and achieve significant impact through cultivating walkways and streets that are shared public spaces, promoting safety, conserving resources, preserving historic buildings and places, seamlessly linking to their surroundings and are pedestrian friendly.

Nominations for the awards were accepted by the city last year. A three-member committee reviewed and ranked the submissions for recommendation to Mayor Goodman, who selected the award winners.

The city of Las Vegas is committed to sustainability and livability in our community.  Visit the city Web site’s at www.lasvegasnevada.gov to learn about what is being accomplished.
