Senior Volunteerism To Be Recognized At City Council Meeting
Senior Citizens Provide Service To The Community

 

The city of Las Vegas will recognize two senior citizen couples for their volunteerism at the Wednesday, Jan. 20, City Council meeting, which will take place following the 8:30 a.m. Redevelopment Agency meeting in City Hall council chambers, located at 400 Stewart Ave.

Walter and Jane Henry will be recognized as the Seniors of the Quarter. Walter Henry volunteers as a water fitness instructor at the YMCA five days a week, and Jane Henry has been a volunteer at the Shade Tree Shelter for the last 16 years.

The January Citizens of the Month are Janet Robinson and Roger Dawson, and this senior couple will be recognized by Ward 6 Councilman Steven D. Ross for their service to the community. They volunteer time as park ambassadors and are big supporters of the Centennial Hills Active Adult Center.

Other ceremonial items include a special presentation from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to Ward 3 staff and Mayor Pro Tem Gary Reese, and the recognition of the January Employee of the Month.
