General information about the incident:  Fire dispatchers received several calls that an upstairs apartment was heavily involved with fire. Three people were in the apartment at the time of the fire. The male was sleeping on the couch and woke to the smell of smoke and the apartment filling quickly with thick smoke. He ran to the rear bedroom and woke his wife and two-year-old boy. As they were leaving the woman saw the kitchen heavily involved with fire. Fire investigators believe a pot on the stove is where the fire started. The fire completely gutted the unit and destroyed all of the family’s belongings. They do not have insurance; they lived in the apartment for the past three years. The American Red Cross was assisting them as well as other displaced residents and the Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Foundation also provided relief gift cards to the family.
