Starting at approximately 9 p.m., Friday, June 18, and continuing through 5 a.m., Monday, June 21, Alta Drive will be closed to traffic at Jones Boulevard, and Jones will narrow to one travel lane in each direction at Alta. The temporary traffic changes are necessary as work on an $8.7 million flood control improvement project continues.
While the Alta closure is in effect, Charleston Boulevard is suggested as an alternate route for through east-west travel. Alta should reopen in time to accommodate June 21 morning commute traffic.
Also starting June 21, traffic lane restrictions will be in effect on Jones, between Alta and Evergreen Avenue, during the overnight hours of 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Night work will take place at this location for approximately three weeks.
The flood control improvement project, by the city of Las Vegas, started last June and is slated for completion in late July or early August. Funding is provided by the Clark County Regional Flood Control District and the city of Las Vegas. Contri Construction Company is the contractor.
