Cause of incident:  Cooking fire, started on the stove.

General information about the incident: An adult female was home along with her toddler granddaughter when the fire started on the stove. The woman heard popping noises coming from the pan, then observed it was on fire. In the process, while facing the stove, the woman was burned. Smoke started to fill the house, and the woman decided to escape. She went after her granddaughter, the house had considerable smoke in it. Just then two other family members came home and found thick smoke coming from the house. They assisted with getting the two family members out of the house. When firefighters arrived, the house was fully involved. The fire was ruled accidental, started by cooking material on the stove. Cooking fires are the leading cause of fires in the United States and in Las Vegas.  The family was receiving assistance from the American Red Cross and the Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Foundation.
