A small fire occurred in an air conditioner unit on the roof of the Westcliffe Shopping Center located on the corner of Westcliffe Drive and South Rainbow Boulevard at 9:49 p.m. Monday. Fire dispatchers received several calls, especially from drivers on U.S. 95 at the Rainbow curve, that flames could be seen on the roof of the shopping center.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they ascended to the roof and found the fire was in an air conditioner unit on the roof. The fire was quickly extinguished and confined to the unit. There was no damage from the fire in the interior of the shopping center.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. It may have been electrical in nature. There were no injuries during the incident.
