Traffic Signals On Fort Apache Road At Iron Mountain Road And Brent Lane Go Into Service Tomorrow
Signals Are Part Of The Horse Drive At U.S. Highway 95 Interchange Project

City of Las Vegas traffic crews plan to put the traffic signals on Fort Apache Road at Iron Mountain Road, and at Brent Lane, into full green-amber-red operation tomorrow, Aug. 27. The two signals will be placed in “flashing red” operation this evening.

The new traffic signals are part of the $44 million Horse Drive interchange at U.S. Highway 95 improvement project. Work started in June 2009 and includes the construction of an overpass and full interchange, frontage roads, ramps, retaining walls and a bridge, along with utility work, flood control improvements, street lighting and two additional traffic signals. The Horse Drive interchange at U.S. Hwy. 95 project is slated for completion in late December 2010.

Motorists are reminded that all north and southbound traffic on U.S. 95, south of Kyle Canyon Road, is still detoured off of the highway and on to the new Horse Drive exit and entry ramps to continue traveling through the area. No access to Horse Drive is available while U.S. 95 traffic is shifted to the ramps. This traffic flow change is necessary as crews continue work to build the bridge portion of the project.

“Work on the Horse Drive interchange is steadily moving forward and the activation of these two signals marks a major milestone in the contractor’s progress,” said Ward 6 Councilman Steven D. Ross. “When completed, the new interchange will greatly improve traffic flow and accessibility in the area.”

Funding is provided by the Nevada Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration, the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada, and the Clark County Regional Flood Control District. Capriati Construction is the contractor. The city of Las Vegas Public Works Department is managing the project.
