The city of Las Vegas will break ground on a new fire station to serve the Summerlin area in Ward 4 at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 25. The new station is located at 9398 Sundial Drive.
Mayor Pro Tem Stavros S. Anthony, who represents Ward 4, will be joined by Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Chief Mike Myers and representatives from the Sun City/Summerlin community to kick off construction on the site.
“This new station is going to increase public safety for our residents in the city, especially in the Sun City/Summerlin community,” Councilman Anthony said. “We all look forward to this state-of-the-art fire station opening in late spring 2012.”
The cost of the station is approximately $4.5 million, and when completed it will be a 7,800 square-feet, two bay building. A 100-foot ladder/pumper truck with a crew of four firefighters and emergency medical personnel will be stationed at the new building when it opens.
The contractor on the project is Richardson Construction. Following Monday’s ceremonial groundbreaking, refreshments will be served while supplies last.
