The city of Las Vegas is offering a homeowner permit amnesty program during Building Safety Month in May. During the month of May, any homeowner who has done work on their homes without a permit will be able to pull the proper permits without incurring any additional penalties or double fees.
Garage conversions, installation of patio covers, water heaters or water softeners or other remodeling work requires a city permit, and the amnesty period allows homeowners who neglected to pull a permit the chance to do so without facing penalties or double fees.
In addition to the amnesty, the city will host a homeowners’ forum from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8, at the Development Services Center, located at 333 N. Rancho Drive. The event will be held on the first floor of the building and homeowners with permitting questions will be able to meet with permit technicians and building inspectors to gain a better understanding of the permitting process.
The Development Services Center provides a “one-stop-shop” for the development community. The Planning Department, Business Licensing, Building and Safety Department, Land Development, City Engineer, Fire Prevention, Public Works and Operations & Maintenance administrations are all located in the building.
