Tickets are on sale now for the June 23 DjangoVegas! concert in downtown Las Vegas at the Historic Fifth Street School. Presented by the city of Las Vegas, the Saturday event will celebrate the music of Django Reinhardt and other gypsy jazz musicians past and present. The Gonzalo Bergara Quartet, Fishtank Ensemble and Hot Club of Las Vegas will perform. Pre-concert cocktails and entertainment by the G-String Band will begin at 5 p.m. in the courtyard, located at 401 S. Fourth St. Beverages and food will be available for purchase. The all-acoustic Gonzalo Bergara Quartet is heavily influenced by gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt as well as traditional jazz and hints of music from Argentina. The group's music has been described as "a new kind of gypsy jazz" by Vintage Guitar® magazine. Fishtank Ensemble is a Euro-American musical group that formed in Oakland, Calif., in 2004, where they first performed together at The Fishtank. They perform a variety of traditional musical styles including gypsy jazz, klezmer, flamenco, Japanese folk and Roma music. The band members include Fabrice Martinez (violin and violintromba), Ursula Knudsen (saw/violin/Banjolele/percussion/theremin/vocals), Douglas Smolens (flamenco guitar) and Djordje Stijepovic (double bass).
