City Council to Recognize Historic Preservation Month
Several Individuals And Organizations To Be Honored For Dedication To Historic Preservation

 

The Las Vegas City Council will recognize Historic Preservation Month at the Wednesday, May 16, City Council meeting that will begin at 9 a.m. in City Hall council chambers, located at 495 S. Main St.

Organizers of the Mob Museum and the Neon Museum are among the honorees who have preserved some of our historic structures.

Councilwoman Lois Tarkanian will recognize the dancing skills of the Golden Tappers, who are scheduled to perform at the meeting. She will also recognize the achievements of the youth gymnastics program at the Mirabelli Community Center.

Mayor Pro Tem Stavros S. Anthony will recognize students who have completed the Great American Pride Award Program. The students have memorized historic speeches and documents as part of their studies in U.S. history and government.

In addition, Councilman Bob Beers is scheduled to recognize the Relay of Life organization for its continuing efforts to help people to make a difference in the fight against cancer.

The City Council is also scheduled to recognize Cuban-American Day and the Employee of the Month.
