Las Vegas Awarded $10,000 Grant To Beautify Neighborhoods
Clean-Up On The Go” Program To Enhance Volunteer Efforts

The city of Las Vegas is a recipient of a UPS/Keep America Beautiful (KAB) Community Improvement Grant for $10,000 to support neighborhood cleanups. The funding will be used to purchase a trailer and cleanup supplies that the city will be able to use to help volunteer groups beautify their neighborhoods.

This is the 5th annual UPS/KAB Community Improvement Grant Program, which provides support for recycling, beautification, community greening, litter prevention and waste reduction initiatives across the country. This year’s grant awards exceeded $150,000 for 66 projects. The program’s intent is to link KAB affiliate organizations with local UPS employee teams who will – in addition to the grant funding – provide essential volunteer support to the local efforts.

The city of Las Vegas regularly coordinates neighborhood cleanups through the Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services Department. This grant will allow for the purchase of a trailer and supplies for the new “Clean-up on the Go” program. The trailer will be stocked with supplies like gloves, trash bags, shovels, rakes, brooms, graffiti remover, brushes and sprayers to make cleanup efforts by volunteer groups easier.

Keep America Beautiful, Inc., established in 1953, is the nation’s largest volunteer-based community action and education organization. With a network of more than 1,200 affiliate and participating organizations, KAB forms public-private partnerships and programs that engage individuals to take greater responsibility for improving their community environments.
