The city of Las Vegas will officially open a new fire station to serve the Ward 5 community at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17. The new station is located at 1888 Stella Lake St.
Councilman Ricki Y. Barlow, who represents Ward 5, will be joined by Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Chief Mike Myers and City Manager Betsy Fretwell to open Fire Station 106.
The cost of the station is approximately $4 million. It is a 7,800-square-foot, two-bay building. One engine and one rescue unit will be housed at the station. Six paramedics, six firefighters, three captains and three engineers will be assigned to the station.
Opening ceremonies will include the traditional uncoupling of a fire hose, as well as tours of the new station. Refreshments will be served while supplies last.
The contractor on the project is Hardy Construction.
