City Council to Recognize Top Entries From Helldorado Parade
Classic Cars On Display At City Hall For Collector Car Appreciation Day

The Las Vegas City Council will recognize the top entries from the 2012 Helldorado Parade at the Wednesday, July 18, City Council meeting that will begin following the 8:30 a.m. Redevelopment Agency meeting in City Hall council chambers, located at 495 S. Main St.

The annual Helldorado Parade is the highlight event of the Helldorado Days celebration. The parade brings the community together to celebrate its Western roots, and Councilman Steve Ross will recognize the top entries from this year’s parade.

In addition, Councilman Bob Beers will recognize Collector Car Appreciation Day by hosting a classic car show along Clark Avenue just south of City Hall during the morning session of the council meeting. Clark Avenue will be closed from Main Street to First Street for the car show. The show is scheduled to run from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Also, Councilman Bob Coffin will recognize the efforts of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Citizens Academy to train residents in making their community safe. The citizens academy began in 1991 and a Spanish-language version was added in 2007.

Councilwoman Lois Tarkanian will recognize the July Citizens of the Month, Ken and Sharon Hody, for their work in removing graffiti.

In addition, the City Council will honor the July Employee of the Month and the Senior of the Quarter as part of the ceremonial agenda.
