Las Vegas firefighters responded to a vacant house on fire this morning. The cause of the fire is undetermined but remains under investigation. No one was injured during the incident.
Fire dispatchers received numerous 9-1-1 calls at 4:28 Sunday morning that a house at 3081/2 A South 10th Street was on fire and the fire was spreading to a house at 912 Bridger Ave. When firefighters arrived on scene the outside of a small 500 square-foot, one story wood frame house was on fire and the fire had spread to the interior of the house, which was vacant. The fire also spread to the outside of the house next door. Firefighters quickly doused the flames and had the fire out in less than five minutes.
Fire investigators determined the fire started outside between the two homes and then spread to the interior of one of the homes. It appeared that a homeless person had been living outside against the house, the area where the fire started. Damage due to the fire is estimated at $10,000.
Both houses are vacant; there were no injuries in connection with the incident.
