Las Vegas firefighters responded to the Bonanza Mini Storage facility, 2210 W. Bonanza Road, at 8:45 Saturday morning. On arrival smoke was showing from the middle of a long, one-story concrete block building, which is subdivided into storage garages and rooms.
Firefighters found fire coming from one of the storage rooms, similar to a large closet, which spread to a number of other units. Firefighters had the fire under control in eight minutes.
One unit was gutted, approximately 10 other units had damage in varying degrees from very light smoke to moderate heat. Contents in most of the other units were not damaged. Damage was estimated at $50,000.
The manager of the facility told fire investigators she was opening a gate at the facility and noticed smoke coming from the center of the building. When she went to investigate, she could see flames and smoke coming from one of the units. She ran to the office and called 9-1-1.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Fire investigators want to talk to some of the tenants of the storage units as part of the investigation before making a determination.
There were no injuries in connection with the incident.
