City Of Las Vegas Issues Request For Proposals For Westside School Historic Rehabilitation Construction Manager At Risk
Interested Persons Invited To Pre-Proposal Conference Aug. 23 At City Hall

The city of Las Vegas has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a “Construction Manager At Risk” for the Westside School Historic Rehabilitation Project. General contractors that meet the qualifications listed in Nevada Revised Statutes 338.1691(3) are invited to submit written proposals for the performance of construction-manager-at-risk services for the project. Interested parties are invited to a pre-proposal conference at 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, in the third-floor Purchasing & Contracts Division conference room at City Hall, 495 S. Main St. The purpose of the conference is to discuss the terms, conditions and requirements of the RFP.

Preconstruction services are anticipated to begin in fall 2012 and construction is expected to begin fall 2013, with estimated completion in fall 2014. Preconstruction services will include constructability reviews, construction cost estimates, advice, project analysis and feedback regarding materials, methods, systems, schedule, labor and other conditions affecting construction and subcontractor selection for the restoration and rehabilitation of the Historic Westside School, located at 330 W. Washington Ave.

The oldest remaining schoolhouse in Las Vegas, the grammar school was built in 1923, expanded in 1928, and an annex was added in 1948. The property is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, the State Register of Historic Places and the city of Las Vegas Historic Property Register. For more information on the Historic Westside School project, visit the Web page.

“I encourage qualified local general contractors to attend this conference and submit a proposal,” said Ward 5 Councilman Ricki Y. Barlow. “I would like to keep the jobs we generate for Las Vegans who need work.”

Questions regarding the RFP should be e-mailed to Dianne Collins at or faxed to (702) 384-9964 no later than Sept. 5. Responses to the RFP must be received in the office of the city of Las Vegas City Clerk, second floor, City Hall, 495 S. Main St., Las Vegas, NV 89101-2986, no later than 1:30 p.m. Sept. 18.
