The Las Vegas City Council will recognize the Veteran’s Tribute Career and Technical Academy at the Wednesday, Sept. 5, City Council meeting that will begin following the 8:30 a.m. Redevelopment Agency meeting in City Hall council chambers, located at 495 S. Main St.
Students at the magnet school study public safety fields including law enforcement, dispatch, crime scene investigation and emergency medical services.
In addition, Councilman Bob Coffin will recognize the September Citizens of the Month, Gary and Carmen Bates. The couple has made it their mission to clean up several city streets.
Also, Councilwoman Lois Tarkanian will recognize the community outreach efforts of Pastor Doug Loman and the Valley Bible Youth Fellowship Program. The councilwoman will also recognize a longtime Las Vegas resident, Don Christensen.
Finally, Councilman Steven D. Ross will recognize Grant Korgan. Korgan suffered a spinal cord injury while snowmobiling and has become an inspiration to others as he overcomes the obstacles in his life.
