Firefighters from the city of Las Vegas and Clark County responded to a house fire at 2200 Paseo Court, located near the intersection of Sahara Avenue and Buffalo Drive, at 8:56 a.m. Wednesday. Fire dispatchers received several calls that smoke was seen coming from a large two story house.
Firefighters arrived and found a fire in an upstairs master bedroom. They were able to confine the fire to the bedroom and had it out in a few minutes.
The fire gutted the bedroom; there was heavy smoke damage throughout the rest of the approximately 4,300 square-foot home. Damage was estimated at $200,000.
Fire investigators ruled the fire accidental, due to careless smoking. The fire started in a stuffed-chair in the bedroom. The smoldering fire created intense heat and thick black smoke which caused damage throughout the house.
No one was home at the time of the fire. Two adults live in the house. They will be displaced while their house is being repaired. There were no reported injuries.
