The city of Las Vegas has partnered with Fannie Mae and to offer free mortgage assistance to local homeowners with a Seterus mortgage on Friday, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 8, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Financial Guidance Center, located at 2650 Jones Blvd. Seterus, Inc. is one of the nation's leading specialty loan servicing companies.
Following a series of Housing and Foreclosure Prevention Roundtables held to find new ways to help distressed borrowers, Fannie Mae partnered with the city of Las Vegas to pilot a new approach, bringing real options to homeowners.
The program targets homeowners who have been offered a mortgage modification/solution but failed to respond or to follow up with borrowers. Fannie Mae and local Department of Housing and Urban Development-approved housing counselors will be available onsite to review specific mortgage situations, to discuss options and to assist homeowners with completing required forms.
“Our goal is to work together to help local homeowners get in contact with approved housing counselors to discuss the best mortgage solutions for their needs,” Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman said.
Options to avoid foreclosure may include helping Las Vegas homeowners obtain loan modifications, repayment and forbearance plans, refinancing, short-sales, deed-in-lieu of foreclosure transactions, or to discuss an offer they may have received but are uncertain of.
All homeowners with a Seterus mortgage that are struggling to make their payments or unsure of the available options should make an appointment to discuss mortgage solutions.
