Beginning Dec. 3, people looking for a job at the city of Las Vegas will be able to apply and submit their applications online by visiting the city’s website. This new feature will make it easier for job seekers to search for open positions, including receiving e-mail notifications of new openings.
Hourly/seasonal opportunities will be included on the site beginning in January.
When applying for a job online, candidates will also be able to:
- Apply, edit and attach required certifications
- View their individual status in real time, through the recruitment process
- “Self schedule” exams and interviews.
The new online program also streamlines the application, testing and notification process for staff. Previously, city staffers were required to review each application to ensure minimum qualifications were met, to generate job announcements and to schedule each person for testing and interview. These functions can now be done more quickly and efficiently, as many of them will be automated.
The city will continue to accept job applications in person at Las Vegas City Hall, located at 495 S. Main Street, and via fax. To accommodate those who may not have computer access, the city is expected to open an “Online Application Center” in the Human Resources lobby at City Hall in January 2013, which will provide five personal computers for citizens to apply and search for jobs online.
The online job application adds to the growing number of services available online. The city offers a variety of online services to make it easier for citizens to do business with the city. For example, you can pay for a business license, inquire on the status of an inspection, report graffiti and much more.
