Continuing through the next four weeks, there will be construction of sewer line repairs and improvements in the intersection of Sahara Avenue and Fort Apache Road, and west of the intersection on Sahara. The work is being done in response to a recent sewer overflow at this location and is intended to reduce the risk of a recurrence.
This is a small project consisting of construction of two new manholes, repair of damage to the sewer line, and raising a buried manhole. However, these are labor- and equipment-intensive activities that will take time and working space to complete. The inside lane in both directions will be closed during work hours. In order to minimize the impact to traffic on these highly travelled roads, the work days and hours will be Monday through Friday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Work is expected to be complete by Feb. 15, 2013.
Las Vegas Paving is the contractor. City of Las Vegas Department of Operations and Maintenance personnel are managing the project. The work is estimated to cost $90,000, with funding provided by the city of Las Vegas.
