Las Vegas Fire Investigators Arrest Arson Suspect
Fire Occurred On March 22 At The Siegel Suites Paradise Apartments

One person has been arrested and charged with arson in connection with a fire that occurred in an apartment on March 22. The man was taken to the hospital during the incident, and was later released, arrested and charged by Las Vegas Fire & Rescue investigators.

Carlos Segarra was arrested and booked for First Degree Arson for a fire in his apartment at the Siegel Suites Paradise Apartments, located at 2000 Paradise Road.

On March 22, Metro Police received calls just after 5 a.m. that someone on the third floor of the apartment building was breaking windows and throwing things out of the window. When police arrived on scene, smoke was seen coming from one of the apartments.

When firefighters arrived at the apartment, they found a fire on the stove which had been extinguished by an automatic fire sprinkler. The apartment building was evacuated during the incident as a precaution.

Fire investigators determined the fire on the stove was started by clothing being set on the stove that was then turned on by the occupant of the apartment.

Damage was confined to the stove top, and was estimated at $500. Two apartments on the first and second floors had minor water damage from the fire sprinklers.

There were no other injuries reported during the incident.
