Starting Monday, May 20, and continuing through the next 12 weeks, there will be construction of new roadway improvements on Coke Street from Maggie Avenue to Racel Street, on Racel from Conough Lane to Tenaya Way, on Tenaya from Racel to Farm Road, and on Farm from Rainbow Boulevard to Decatur Boulevard. Work hours will generally be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. There may be some short periods of inactivity, as the work is coordinated with adjacent private development activities.
The work will consist of removal and reconstruction of deteriorated areas of pavement, followed by placement of a structural pavement overlay and installation of new traffic delineation pavement markings (striping, buttons, crosswalks, etc). The work is intended to address areas of pavement distress resulting from recent construction project activities in the area.
Motorists are advised to use Grand Teton Drive and Elkhorn Road for east/west alternate routes. Buffalo Drive and Rainbow are the suggested alternate north/south routes.
Las Vegas Paving Corporation is the contractor and the city of Las Vegas is managing the project. Funding for this project is provided by the city of Las Vegas, the Regional Flood Control District and Clark County. The estimated cost for this project is $1 million.
