The city of Las Vegas will begin taking applications for the position of firefighter trainee at 7:30 a.m. Monday, June 10. The Firefighter Trainee recruitment is limited to the first 500 completed, qualified, online applications received, and will close without notice when that number is received.
The job announcement will be available on the city’s website beginning 7:30 a.m. Monday, June 10. Only online applications will be accepted; paper or faxed applications will be rejected. Online applications can be submitted by visiting the city’s website at www.lasvegasnevada.gov/employment.
This recruitment will involve a highly competitive process that includes a written exam scheduled for July 22-July 25. Candidates identified to move forward in the process will be notified via e-mail of Las Vegas Fire & Rescue requirements for the candidate physical ability test.
In order to qualify to be a firefighter trainee, applicants must be at least 18-years-old, possess a valid driver’s license and a high school diploma or an equivalent on the date of application. Applicants must possess a valid Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic Certificate and must meet physical condition requirements on the date of the conditional job offer.
A Fire & Police Selection, Inc. (FPSI) Firefighter Test Preparation Manual (TPM) 10th Edition Study Guide is available for a cost of $20 (credit card) or $18 money order, at http://www.fpsi.com/applicant_resources.html.
A practice test is also available for an additional charge.
