Jones Boulevard Improvement Project in the Northwest Nears Completion
|
| |
|
Centennial Hills motorists will have easier access on Jones Boulevard, between the Interstate 215 Beltway and Elkhorn Road, as work on a $5 million improvement project by the city of Las Vegas Public Works Department wraps up this week.
Work on the Jones Boulevard Improvement Project started in April 2004. The project included widening Jones Boulevard to two travel lanes in each direction, sanitary sewer improvements and the installation of new curbs, gutters, sidewalks, streetlights and storm drainage.
The new traffic signals that are being installed at the Jones Boulevard and Elkhorn Road intersection in the northwest part of the city will be put into service in the next few weeks.
“We have long awaited completion of these improvements to Jones Boulevard,” said Las Vegas Councilman Michael Mack, who represents Ward 6. “I’m pleased to see this important project come to fruition.”
Frehner Construction Company, Inc. is the contractor for the project. Funding is provided by city of Las Vegas sanitation funds, special improvement district assessments and the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada.
