Atlanta Falcons linebacker Edgerton Hartwell invites area youth to participate in the 3rd Annual Football & Academic Enrichment Camp with National Football League (NFL) players July 5 through 9 at Cheyenne High School. Aspiring football players entering grades 9 through 12 are eligible for the five-day camp, which costs $50. A free Peewee Mini Camp for ages 6 to 13 will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Friday, July 8, at the Cheyenne High School gymnasium. The camps are presented by Edgerton Hartwell’s Big Hart Foundation and the city of Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services.
The full-contact, five-day camp will heighten participants’ knowledge of football, increase their skill levels and offer life skills enrichment seminars. Atlanta Falcons linebacker Edgerton Hartwell is the driving force behind the camp’s creation and will lead this year’s event. Current and former NFL players and stars, including former Chicago Bears linebacker and current San Francisco 49ers Assistant Head Coach Michael Singletary, will coach, meet and speak to the students. Police officers, teachers and professionals from many walks of life will teach life skills. Hartwell also has invited the following NFL players to participate during the week:

The peewee mini camp is limited to the first 100 youth ages 6 to 13 to register in the Cheyenne High School gymnasium from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, July 8. The mini camp will begin promptly at 2 p.m. Youth should wear gym shoes and be prepared to participate in an obstacle training course and meet professional players.
Football camp hours will be 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 5; 7 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, July 6 and 7; 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 3:45 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 8. A scrimmage game will be played from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Graduation and awards ceremonies will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 9. Breakfast, lunch, water and a snack are included daily. Participants should bring cleats and wear T-shirts, loose shorts, socks and gym shoes. Registration for the five-day camp is limited to 150 players and will be held Friday, July 1, from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Cheyenne High School gymnasium. Parents must sign liability waivers before youth may participate. Cheyenne High School is located at 3200 West Alexander Road.
