Eureka Locomotive

Eureka Locomotive

The Eureka Locomotive was manufactured in 1875 and is the oldest existing locomotive of the Eureka and Palisade Railroad, a central Nevada line built to transport passengers, silver and lead from the mines at Eureka to the Central Pacific line at Palisade.  It is one of the fewest remaining locomotives of its type, and is the only operational locomotive of the three remaining Baldwin Class 8/18C engines in the U.S.  The locomotive retains much of its original parts, with parts being replaced as the normal course of service.
