Youth Neighborhood Association Partnership

 YNAPP
The Youth Neighborhood Association Partnership Program (YNAPP) gets youth involved in neighborhood and community building projects of their own design.
    Eligibility
  • Youth between the ages of 11 and 18 who reside within the limits of city of Las Vegas registered neighborhood association
  • Other interested organizations or individuals (social organizations, religious groups and educational institutions may form a partnership with a city of Las Vegas registered neighborhood association or homeowner’s association youth group
      Types of projects
      Any project that makes a neighborhood and community a better place to live, work or play can qualify.  Past examples include, but are not limited to:

      • Housing rehabilitation
      • Park restoration
      • Service to battered women and children
      • Environmental projects
      • Youth art projects
      • Reading projects
      • Homelessness
      • Community outreach
      • Abuse outreach
      • Youth health fairs
      • Mentoring
      • Tutoring
      • Hunger or multicultural issues/projects

      Grants
      Grants up to $1,000 are available for projects that:

      • Are designed and carried out by young people with adults serving as supervisors
      • Put the ideas of young people to work to address important neighborhood and community needs
      • Are neighborhood-based or led by neighborhood association youth
      • Have a realistic budget and solid plans

      YNAPP grants may be used for direct operations of the project or transportation costs (if needed).  The majority of the grant money must be used to carry out the project.


      Funding Process
      To qualify for funding:

      • Projects must address a neighborhood or community need
      • Projects must be planned and implemented by a neighborhood, homeowner or business association youth group
      • Projects must consist of a youth group of two or more and have an adult advisor age 21 or older· Groups must match the grants with cash, volunteer labor or supplies

      The application process begins each September.  All applications for funding are reviewed by the Youth Neighborhood Association Partnership Program Grant Review Board. The board, consisting of seven local youth and eight adults, listens to proposed grant applications and makes recommendations to the City Council.
