Financial Assistance & Discounts for Seniors

The following programs offer financial assistance and discounts for seniors:

AARP 55 Alive/Mature Driving Program

The AARP 55 Alive/Mature Driving Program allows seniors to qualify for auto insurance premium discounts.

Citizens Area Transit (CAT) Bus Service Discount

Seniors 62 years and older pay a reduced fare by presenting a Reduced Fare Identification Card, available at the Downtown Transportation Center.

City Pet License Discount

Seniors and the disabled can be eligible for reduced annual pet licensing fees - $15 (reduced from $25) for unsterilized animals and $5 (reduced from $10) for neutered or spayed animals.

Eligibility

  • Senior citizens, 65 years and older or
  • A current recipient of Social Security disability (any age)  
  • Applies to applicants keeping up to three dogs and three cats per residence
  • Holders and applicants of pet fancier permits are not eligible

Utility Tax Rebate Program

The Utility Tax Rebate Program rebates utility taxes for qualified seniors.
