The Department of Government and Community Affairs oversees:

, state and local legislative advocacy - Community relations including diversity affairs and diplomatic relations
- Cultural affairs including gallery management, downtown events
- Development of public art
- Historic preservation and renovation of the U.S. Post Office and Courthouse
