KCLV Shows > Teen Prostitution: Stolen Lives
Description: “Teen Prostitution: Stolen Lives” is a half hour special focusing on the problem of minors being lured into a life of solicitation on the streets. The Department of Justice reports that there are about 100,000 children currently enslaved in commercial sexual exploitation in the U.S. and Las Vegas has been identified as a hub for this crime.
Producer/Host Nancy Byrne hits the streets with a member of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Vice Unit to illustrate the problem of teen prostitution. The stories from law enforcement about these crimes are shocking and disturbing but go a long way to shatter any misconception that this is in any way a glamorous life. In addition to exposing this problem, the special looks at programs in the city to combat this issue. The special includes interviews with two former prostitutes who share their experiences and how they were able to break the cycle of prostitution. Finally, Nancy interviews the Director of the Human Trafficking Unit with the Las Vegas Salvation Army. She talks about the warning signs that a teen you know may be being lured to the streets. Some of the signs are so subtle they could get past even the most attentive parents.
Length: 30 minutes
