Judge Heidi Almase

Department 3

Judge Heidi Almase was elected to the Las Vegas Municipal Court in June 2011.

Judge Almase moved to Las Vegas in 1980 and earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.  In 1995, Judge Almase became a Category I certified peace officer with the Nevada Department of Parole and Probation, later also working as an investigator in the Nevada Attorney General’s Office.

In 2001, Judge Almase graduated from the William S. Boyd School of Law, a member of the charter class. After a clerkship with the Nevada Supreme Court, Judge Almase worked as a prosecutor for the city of Las Vegas and the Nevada Deputy Attorney General, later returning to the city of Las Vegas City Attorney’s Office as part of the civil litigation team. Judge Almase has practiced before the Nevada Supreme Court, the Federal District Court, District of Nevada and the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

In 2008, Judge Almase started a law practice, the Almase Law Group, with her husband, attorney Caesar V. Almase. Her past experience in law enforcement and as a prosecutor, served her well in private practice as a criminal and family attorney.

In addition to her private practice, Judge Almase donated her time and expertise to serve pro bono as part of the legal team of the Las Vegas Municipal Court’s WIN Specialty Court, an intensive supervision program dedicated to changing the behaviors of those arrested for solicitation.  Prior to winning a seat on the Las Vegas Municipal Court, Judge Almase also served as a Pro Tem Justice of the Peace for the Township of Las Vegas Justice Courts and was appointed as an Alternate Judge for the city of Henderson.

Along with a full criminal calendar, Judge Almase currently presides over the Habitual Offender Prevention and Education (H.O.P.E.) Specialty Court in Department. The goal of the specialty court is to reduce arrests among chronic offenders. Most of the defendants in this program are homeless and have a substance related diagnosis.
